These sterling tag pendants made by Kimari Somers are reminiscent of Route 66 Trading Post Souvenir jewelry, but on a slightly larger scale. Kimari saws all the components out of sterling sheet and hand stamps everything before soldering appliqués in place and adding a turquoise accent. Although some designs may be similar, no two are exactly alike.

“The Fred Harvey Era (roughly 1900–1950s) refers to the golden age of Southwest railway tourism, driven by entrepreneur Fred Harvey and the Santa Fe Railroad. The period is famous for pioneering a lighter, commercially stamped style of Southwestern Native American silver-and-turquoise jewelry made for tourists.” (Google)

Handcrafted/Handmade work is unique in its design, which means that imperfections will most often be part of an item’s character. Inconsistencies will occur by nature, which makes each piece truly one of a kind; an artist is not a machine.
